Day 29

I tried Temple of Kotmogu, as all I needed was a win. Man, this is a fun Battleground, although it helps that the Alliance seemed to be asleep on this one. I got ToK All-Star, Powerball, and, of course, the victory. Running around at twice your usual size steamrollering the competition takes some beating.

Finally, it was back to the garrison for a little light fishing, and my final achievement in the challenge - Draenor Medic.

The challenge has reminded me of two things about WoW. Firstly, that there is a hell of a lot to do. There were so many things I wanted to do but didn't because I didn't need them for the challenge. Secondly, that this game will eat your life if you let it. There are so many games I haven't played because of this challenge. But right now, there's nothing I'd rather do that run Ulduar solo, or do some pet battling, or even raise my alts. This game is awesome, but it's also evil.

Now excuse me, I have to go empty my packs and go find something new.

Day 28, part deux

As I was heading to Moshu'gan Vaults to attempt a solo run, I saw a couple of people engaging the Sha of Anger, and thought - why not? A few minutes later, I had Settle Down, Bro, and only 4 more to go.

After reviewing the likelihood of getting the rest of the achievements, I sighed and headed back the the Battlegrounds. Somehow, I managed to get credit for All over the Isle, even though I only killed one guy. It seems that I had credit from the other kills from before, even though it is only supposed to apply if all the kills are in one match. I'm not complaining, I'll take what I can get at this point. 3 left.

After that, I had a look through my reminaing categories and realised there was at least one VERY easy achievement to get - Double Rainbow!

As it happens, we won handily anyway, I think the whole Alliance were Black Friday shopping. Either way, just 2 to go.

Day 28

Nothing for today. Battered Hilt came up on AH but really don't want to spend 5k on it.

Day 27

Good day today. I did my Cata raid, Bastion of Twilight with no problems, did a MoP scenario then popped into Tol Barad to see if it was Horde controlled. It wasn't, but the battle was only a minute away. I won Tol Barad solo since no-one goes there these days, then took out the Baradin Hold bosses. Finally, I used my fresh currency to buy the Tol Barad Searchlight, which brought me up to 25 toys.

Only five to go, although none of them look easy. Here's what my spreadsheet looks like.

That's probably it for today. I have 4 days to get the remaining 9 achievements out of a possible 23, at least 4 of which are practically impossible. I am pretty confident I can do it, as long as nothing comes up.

Day 21

Managed to get two achievements before maintenance (again) this morning - WoW's 10th Anniversary (which, admittedly didn't take much effort) and Draftsman. That's 43 down, 17 to go. I really need to start working on those PvP ones, but I worry that I will have no chance if I am not lvl 100.

Day 19-20

Nope, still nothing. Stupid job.

Day 17-18

No achievements on these day. I only need 9 more and I think most will be a lot easier either on the way to or at lvl 100, so I am concentrating on that - I just don't know if I will have time to get there.

Day 16

Got a few achievements relating to Garrisons today - More Plots, Patrol Mission Specialist, and It's an Invasion.

Garrisons demonstrate what has made WoW so successful. They take the best bits from other games and polish them until they shine. There's nothing new here, but it's done so well that it feels like the best possible execution of the concept.

Day 15

Managed to get in finally. Welcome to Draenor is an unavoidable achievement in a way, but it is a fun one as the intro zone is epic. I also got An Epic Buddy from a little diversion to Ashran.

Servers down

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the expansion release has broken everything and the servers are down for maintenance this morning. It's a shame, but hopefully will be fixed soon.

Day 13

While I have ordered Warlords of Draenor, I don't actually know when I will get it as I have ordered it from one of those less-reputable places that can't give you a proper estimate for when your goods will arrive.

Argos, I think it was called.

Anyway, this morning I completed the quest achievement for Eastern Kingdoms, Arathi Highlands. The Highlands are an odd zone, something of a throwback to Classic WoW, with many of the original quests, along with their terrible drop rates and long sequences of running back and forth. It was bad enough with a flying mount, wouldn't want to do it at a level-appropriate time again.

Day 12

Had a pretty good morning - I took another look at the quest achievements and after some Wowhead research realised that the Northrend and Outland ones were eminently doable. So I knocked out Blade's Edge Bomberman and Rapid Defense in no time, then went to AQ40 to start building up my Brood of Nozdormu rep. I don't think I'll have enough time to get exalted with them as you can still only run AQ40 once a week, but we'll see how far I get.

After coming home from work I had completely forgottten the morning, so after doing AQ20 I then did the Frenzyheart dailies and spent way too long on Mine Sweeper, (which I do not recommend), both of which count for a category I had completed that morning.

Ah well. 35 down.

Day 11

Turns out I don't need Taming Kalimdor - I actually got Trainer Extraordinaire yesterday, and with Growing Up today, that means I am done with Pet Battles for now.

I then made my way to Hyjal for the Cata quest achievement and picked up both Ludicrous Speed (but no-one's ever gone that fast!) and And The Meek Shall Inherit Kalimdor.

Finally, I tried - yet again - to get the very last coin for The Coin Master. After wasting half an hour or so I headed to SSC and got The Lurker Above instead.

Day 10

After a mostly fruitless PvP session - I did get Damage Control from manning a turret in IoC -  I decided to try my hand at pet battles, something I haven't really devoted much time to thus far. I'm still a fair way from Taming Kalimdor but I'm enjoying it so far.

Day 9

Just one achievement today, ran a few Cata heroics to get Exalted with The Earthen Ring, but I did also get Bear-ly Made It, which is pretty simple to solo these days.

Day 8

Couple of fairly easy ones today, Armoured Brown Bear and The Northrend Gourmet. I then did a bit of Archaeology - didn't take long to get More Skills To Pay The Bills and Illustrious Grand Master Archaeologist.

That's 27 so far, and 8 days in.

Day 7

Couldn't take another day with no achievements. As luck would have it, as I was flying over Wintergrasp I noticed that it was controlled by the Horde and, when I checked, the achievements for beating the raid bosses underneath were in the PVP category, not the LK raid one, so I snagged Archavon the Stone Watcher and then finally picked up Northrend Vanguard by getting Exalted with Wyrmrest.

Day 5 & 6

Spent my time these last 2 days running WotLK heroics for Wyrmrest rep. I'm about halfway through Revered now, so I reckon only another 4 or 5 dungeons to go.

Day 4

Not much to report today. Got the last easy exploration achievement before WoD - Explore Vash'jir. I also picked up the rare Ghostcrawler as a pet, so that's nice. The others available to me are Bloody Rare and Frostbitten, so not much chance of getting those.

 I'm whittling down to the ones that will actually take a bit of work. By my estimation I have about 20 more that are relatively easy, half of which will require WoD, then the remaining 20-odd will be a bit more challenging. I spent some time on one of the slightly more time-consuming ones today trying to get my last WotLK tabard rep to Exalted (Wyrmrest Accord), not sure how long that's going to take.

Day 3

Started off with a couple of reputation achievements - I got The Czar of Sporeggar which also gave me The Diplomat. I then picked up Thirty Tabards, Cat Fight and Shop Smart, Shop Pet...Smart in Org.

So that's 20/60 - one third of the way there in 3 days.

Day 2

Had a dungeon-themed day. Did the arachnid quarter of Naxx for Arachnophobia, then, since I was in the area, headed for Azjol-Nerub and got 5 achievements at once, including Ahn'Kaket: The Old Kingdom and Northrend Dungeon Hero. Not realising that this cleared the Dungeons & Raids category, I then went to go and do the two raids in Silithis for Classic Raider, unnecessarily - although they were pretty fun. I also cleared up the quests in Tanaris for Tanaris Quests, then popped over to Quel'Danas for Magister's Terrace. My last dungeon of the day was the Stonecore for the heroic achievement, and I rounded it off with Come One, Come All and To The Afterlife.

That's another 8 down, so I am at 13 of 60, over 20% in 2 days. I have done many of the easiest ones, but I am starting to think that I haven't set the bar high enough.
